Story Behind The Blend
METAL (金) was created to embody the qualities of precision, strength, refinement and release.
Inspired by the Metal element in the Chinese Tea Ceremony, this blend reflects the transition into autumn: the season of gathering what has been learned, letting go of what has passed, and preparing for what comes next.
Turmeric brings golden warmth, while calendula and yarrow contribute bright botanical character. Sage brings an aromatic clarity; juniper and bay create a resinous, grounded depth; and fennel adds sweetness and lift. Rosehip brings a bright, tart note, while cacao rounds the blend with warmth and richness.
Each ingredient contributes to Metal's paradox: sharp yet fluid, disciplined yet adaptable, strong yet capable of transformation.
This is a tea for the moment between holding on and letting go.
Traditional Herbal Context
Many of the botanicals in METAL have long histories within European, Mediterranean, Asian and culinary traditions.
Turmeric has deep roots in South Asian culinary and cultural practices. Sage, bay, fennel and juniper have longstanding histories throughout Mediterranean and European food and herbal traditions. Calendula, yarrow and rosehip have also been widely used in European herbal preparations.
Cacao has an extensive cultural history in Mesoamerica, where cacao has been cultivated and used for centuries as a food and ceremonial ingredient.
These historical and cultural uses are provided for educational purposes and are not intended as medical claims.
